Real Madrid began their pre-season training this week with only a handful of first-team players available at manager Carlo Ancelotti’s disposal.

Indeed, only Andriy Lunin, Luka Modric, Lucas Vazquez, Thibaut Courtois, Fran Garcia, Dani Ceballos and Brahim Diaz are training under the Italian tactician, along with members of the reserve team.

Two players who returned from loan stints – Jesus Vallejo and Reinier Jesus – find themselves in different boats.

Reinier not training with the first-team squad

Indeed, while Vallejo is currently doing pre-season with the Real Madrid first-team players under Carlo Ancelotti, the same cannot be said about Reinier.

According to AS, the Brazilian talent has not been asked to report to training with the senior team for pre-season with another loan exit likely for him.

Instead, the attacking midfielder will join the Castilla players once they resume their pre-season with his future at the club still in limbo.

Reinier has been one of the few misses for Real Madrid in recent times, having arrived in 2020 from Brazil in a €30 million deal.

The 22-year-old has spent four years away on loan at three different clubs – Borussia Dortmund (two years), Girona, and more recently Frosinone.

Reinier has been unable to showcase his potential and qualities at any of those clubs and remains a player that Ancelotti does not count on.

For now, the Brazilian is waiting for Castilla to start pre-season training while awaiting a resolution over his future.

Reinier still has two years on his contract at Real Madrid but is expected to leave this summer, potentially on another loan deal, with Real Valladolid said to be interested.
