However, this will be a particularly special game for Flyers top prospect Matvei Michkov. It will be the first time the young Russian star will play against NHL legend Alex Ovechkin.
Leading up to the matchup, Ovechkin had some kind words about Michkov, as The Athletic's Kevin Kurz reported. Here is what the future Hall of Famer had to say about the promising youngster:
"I'm happy for him. He's a talented guy. He's in good hands over here. Just have to be patient and play his game, and everything's going to be fine."

Says he's met Michkov, but "doesn't really know him."— Kevin Kurz (@KKurzNHL) October 21, 2024
It is certainly a big deal that Michkov got some recognition from a legend like Ovechkin. Furthermore, being called talented by a future Hall of Famer like Ovechkin is also incredibly notable.
Michkov will now look to have a big game against Ovechkin and the Caps from here.
