Flyers Need Important Forward To Respond After Scratch

The Philadelphia Flyers made a big decision for their Saturday contest against the Anaheim Ducks, scratching forward Joel Farabee. With the 2018 first-round expected to be one of the Flyers' top forwards, it was undoubtedly notable that he was scratched.

However, it is also understandable that Flyers head coach John Tortorella sent Farabee a message. The 24-year-old winger is struggling this season, posting six goals, eight assists, and a minus-14 rating in 42 games. He has also been held without a point in five straight games.

With Farabee being one of the Flyers' most skilled forwards, they absolutely need him to respond after being scratched once he gets back into the lineup. The first half of his season was rough, but he still has time to turn his campaign around.

There is clear reason to believe Farabee can heat back up, too. Even after a cold finish to the 2023-24 season, he set career highs with 22 goals, 28 assists, and 50 points in 82 games. When playing at his best, he is an impactful scorer for the Flyers, and they need that from him again. Let's see if this scratch helps him get back on track from here.
