Flyers Goalie Prospect Arrives For Training Camp

Alexei Kolosov.

Philadelphia Flyers goaltending prospect Alexei Kolosov has officially arrived at the team's practice facility, where he is expected to participate in the remaining days of training camp.

Kolosov was reported to have reached an agreement with the Flyers to come back to the U.S. and take part in the rest of training camp, along with getting some more minutes in the AHL with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

A report by SportsNet's Elliotte Friedman suggests that Kolosov will be able to return to the KHL if things don't end up working out with the Flyers.

The 22-year-old goalie was allegedly feeling displeased with playing in the AHL last season, with rampant rumors going around blaming homesickness and a lack of Russian speakers for his disillusionment.

Flyers GM Danny Briere and Phantoms head coach Ian Laperriere both confirmed that Kolosov's teammates made every effort to include him in team social activities, but he was the one that refused their offers.

After a long, confusing summer of conflicting reports and no official statements from either side, Kolosov was seen getting some reps in with one of the Flyers' training camp groups.

He was practicing with the non-game group alongside Phantoms netminder Cal Petersen and recent goalie signing Eetu Makiniemi.

There is no word yet on when he could feature in a preseason game lineup.
