Florentino Perez reflects on the legacy of Real Madrid’s successful year – ‘We are in a golden era’
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez recently hosted an event organised by the club to honour its relationship with the media.
During the gathering, he took a moment to acknowledge the challenges faced by the people of Valencia and others affected by the Dana storm.
Perez expressed the importance of solidarity and supporting those in need, reiterating Real Madrid’s commitment to social causes.
“It is time for solidarity and to remember those who need it most. We must continue to be supportive of those affected by Dana, we cannot forget,” he began saying as quoted by MARCA.
He highlighted the role of the Real Madrid Foundation, which embodies the club’s spirit of compassion and dedication to helping the less fortunate.
“The Foundation is the soul of Real Madrid and that is why I want to remember all the workers,” he added.
Relationship with the media
In his address, Perez emphasised the significance of the media in shaping the club’s global image. He acknowledged the mutual respect between Real Madrid and the press, noting the critical role journalists play in sharing the club’s values and achievements.
“We respectfully value our relationship with the media and we are rigorous. You have helped us to transmit the values of this club.”
With over 600 million followers worldwide, Real Madrid’s legacy and iconic status are recognised across the globe, thanks in part to the media’s efforts to convey the emotions and significance tied to the club’s crest and jersey.
“We have more than 600 million followers around the world. You know what this badge and this shirt mean to the whole world because you travel with the team and transmit that feeling.”
Real Madrid’s golden era
Reflecting on recent accomplishments, Perez described the current period as a golden era for the club. Over the past year, Real Madrid has added five football titles and three basketball championships to its illustrious record.
He proudly stated that the club has secured an incredible 57 trophies in just 14 years, further cementing its place as a dominant force in the world of sports.
“It has been another historic year for Real Madrid. Five titles in football and three in basketball. We are in a golden era for the club with 57 titles in 14 years,” he noted.
Santiago Bernabeu renovation
Perez also provided an update on the Santiago Bernabeu renovation project. The nearly completed work on the stadium represents a dream come true for Madridistas.
He referred to it as an architectural marvel that will not only enhance the club’s stature but also serve as a landmark for the city of Madrid.
“The dream of Madrid fans is a reality. The work is nearing completion and it will be an architectural landmark and a reference point for the city of Madrid, the pride of Madrid fans.”
Once finished, the revamped Santiago Bernabeu will stand as a symbol of pride for the club and its supporters worldwide.
