Real Madrid will hold presidential elections next year, and while the expectation had been that Florentino Perez would not be in the race, thus ending his 16-year second spell as president, it appears that he could now look to extend his tenure by another four years.

As reported by Relevo, Perez does not rule out running for the presidency in the 2025 elections, despite having seemingly achieved all he could at Real Madrid during his second spell at the helm. Age – he’s now 77 – and some physical problems made it seem that he could walk away, but now, he seems to have an eagerness to continue.

Perez has run four times since entering office for the second time in 2009, and on every occasion, he has been unopposed in the elections. So far, no one has put their name in the hat for 2025, so if Perez does look to continue at Real Madrid, it could be a fifth straight vote with only one name – his – to vote for.
