Earlier today, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick was sent off during the La Liga match against Real Betis, which the Catalans ended up drawing 2-2.

The German tactician’s sending-off came following a penalty decision by Muñiz Ruiz against his team, which resulted in Giovani Lo Celso scoring.

Two-match ban for Flick

Now, Mundo Deportivo has come forward with a report stating that the Barcelona manager is facing a minimum two-match ban for his red card.

The referee recorded in the official match report that the red card was issued to Flick due to his shouting, gesturing, and protesting the decision on the touchline.

This results in a minimum suspension of two matches according to Article 127 of the Disciplinary Code, which states:

“Protesting to the main referee, assistant referees, or the fourth official, provided it does not constitute a more serious offence, shall be punished with a suspension of two to three matches or up to one month.”

Pending the decision of the RFEF’s Disciplinary Committee next week, Flick’s dismissal against Betis could result in him missing a minimum of two La Liga matches for the Blaugrana.

As such, Flick will not be on the touchline for the upcoming matches against Leganes on Sunday, December 15, and Atletico Madrid on Saturday, December 21.

According to the calendar, Flick will not be back on the touchline in La Liga until the 20th round of fixtures, when Barcelona visit Getafe on January 18 or 19, 2025.

This suspension will not affect Flick’s participation in other competitions, such as the Copa del Rey or the Spanish Super Cup, as those are not impacted by a minor disciplinary action.
