Flanagan Cherishes Return Visits To Boston

Toronto Sceptres defender Kali Flanagan returned again to Boston on Wednesday night, after playing six seasons both collegiately and professionally in the city.

Flanagan, who has one goal and two assists on the season, has strong ties to Boston. She spent four years playing with Boston College’s women’s ice hockey team. She played 158 games for Boston College, scoring 19 goals over four seasons.

Following her collegiate career, Flanagan stayed in the city. She played two seasons with the Boston Pride of the PHF, before being drafted into the newly formed PWHL.

Not only did she play for several Boston teams, Flanagan grew up in Burlington, Massachusetts.

“I played for a long time here. My whole family's from here, so it’s always cool to come back home and have my family in the stands” she said.

Flanagan has played two seasons with the Toronto Sceptres after joining the team following the launch of the PWHL. Her sole goal this season came on December 27th, 2024, when the Sceptres faced the Fleet in Toronto.

Coming to play in Boston is special for Flanagan, she said, “I have nieces now, so they were here, and they're starting to get to hockey, so that's cool for me”.

Not only was her family cheering her on Wednesday night, the Olympic gold medalist hosts hockey camps in New England over the summer.

“I had some girls who were at my camp last year in the stands as well” she said.

For Flanagan, playing in Boston is a time to reunite with family and friends, something that is typically not the case for many players on the road.

Although the Sceptres were unable to pull off the win, Flanagan was able to have a unique homecoming and see some familiar faces.
