Flames Players Who Begin 2025 On Lengthy Goal Droughts

The Calgary Flames woke up as the second wildcard team in the Western Conference on Jan. 1, 2025. They somehow find themselves in a favorable spot despite scoring only 98 goals in 37 games, the 28th-ranked offense in the NHL.

Only Jonathan Huberdeau and Nazem Kadri have scored in the double digits, combining for 30 goals, or 30.6% of the team's offense. Of the 25 skaters to dress for one game with the Flames this season, 21 have lit the lamp.

However, some players didn't end 2024 with a goal in quite some time, meaning they will begin 2025 with an extended scoring drought. A handful of names have already played over ten games, and some are fast approaching.

Even though Calgary relies on its goalies to keep them in contests and its top players to carry the offense, some players have managed to slip under the radar with their lack of offensive contributions.

So, which of these skaters are doing to break their goalless streak in the first game of 2025 or get the monkey off their back by the end of January?

  • Andrei Kuzmenko - Oct. 15 (25 games)

  • Jake Bean - Oct. 24 (18 games)

  • Martin Pospisil - Nov. 23 (16 games)

  • Daniil Miromanov - Nov. 15 (13 games)

  • Rasmus Andersson - Dec. 3 (11 games)

  • Yegor Sharangovich - Dec. 3 (11 games)

  • Kevin Bahl - Dec. 3 (11 games)

  • MacKenzie Weegar - Dec. 5 (10 games)

  • Jakob Pelletier - Dec. 5 (nine games)

  • Kevin Rooney - Dec. 10 (eight games)

  • Brayden Pachal - Dec. 10 (eight games)

To begin the New Year, the Flames play three teams below them in the standings before a home-and-home against the Los Angeles Kings. They then go on a four-game road trip through the Central Division, presenting some challenges.

The Flames can't continue to compete for a playoff spot with only a few guys scoring, so January is shaping up to be a prove-it month for several players.
