Johnny Gaudreau’s second goal of the young season was an absolute beauty, but the actual goal might not even be the coolest part about his OT marker Saturday night against the Avalanche.

With the game knotted at 2-2 in the extra frame, Gaudreau — one of the most talented youngsters in the league — found himself racing toward Colorado’s net on a breakaway. And as Gaudreau approached Semyon Varlamov and evaluated his scoring options, Flames goalie David Rittich apparently thought his team already had this one in the bag.

With a hilarious display of confidence in his teammate, Rittich can be seen raising his arms into the air as Gaudreau beats Avalanche defenceman Samuel Girard to the net and scores the game winner. “I knew he would score,” Rittich shared with Flames beat reporter Wes Gilbertson after the game. “I was right.”

The goal gives Gaudreau his eighth point on the season and the Flames a 3-2 victory for their third win of the campaign.
