Five young Italy players to watch as Nunziata reveals U21 squad
After Carmine Nunziata announced his Italy U21 squad on Friday evening, here are five young Azzurrini players to watch over the upcoming international break.
Nicolo Savona has been included in the Italy U21 squad after a promising start to life in the senior Juventus squad under Thiago Motta this season.
The Next Gen graduate could be set for even more minutes following the long-term injury to Gleison Bremer, and Motta even hinted that he could be tried at centre-back if required.
There are a host of exciting midfielder included in the Azzurrini squad, including PSG-owned Cher Ndour and Juve loanee Fabio Miretti. Keep an eye on Cesare Casadei, though, who is making decent impressions on Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca, and is pushing for more minutes with the Premier League outfit.
Tommaso Baldanzi is also one to watch after an encouraging set of recent performances in the trequartista role for Roma. He has arguably outperformed €30m summer signing Matias Soule so far this campaign.
Bologna’s Giovanni Fabbian is one who could also progress to the senior side in years to come.
In the Italy U21 attack, Wilfried Gnonto is one of the most established players available, and has also already earned caps at senior level under Roberto Mancini.
Luca Koleosho is also one to watch, though, as he is currently a regular starter at the top of the Championship with Burnley, and also put in an impressive set of performances in the Premier League before his injury in the second half of last season.
