Five high-profile Premier League players who could still move clubs this month
The January transfer window looks set to heat up in coming days as clubs scramble to sign players before the deadline.
There’s expected to be plenty of movement before the window slams shut and a whole host of Premier League players could yet change clubs. We’ve looked at five big names who find themselves at the centre of rumours right now.
Five high-profile Premier League players who could still move clubs this month
Alejandro Garnacho
It was revealed earlier this month that Manchester United could consider significant offers for Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo. The news was a bombshell to the club’s supporters, with the two talents viewed as stars of the future.
Garnacho’s potential exit, however, should not surprise. Dropped for the Manchester Derby last month, he has struggled to nail down a regular role in Ruben Amorim’s side. The 20-year-old is undeniably talented, but question marks over his suitability to the new manager’s methods mean a sale could materialise. Add in his status as a high-value academy product and an exit could help facilitate yet another rebuild at Old Trafford.
🚨🔵 Chelsea are set to approach Man United for Alejandro Garnacho, as expected.
Napoli remain keen but no agreement at €50m package, rejected by Man United; now also working on Adeyemi deal as revealed.

Napoli saw a €50m bid fail earlier in the window as the Italian league leaders look to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Chelsea, however, look the likeliest destination for Garnacho as the Blues prepare a formal offer.
Marcus Rashford
Marcus Rashford is another who appears destined for the exit door at Manchester United. Dropped alongside Garnacho for the Manchester Derby, he revealed his desire for a new challenge in the aftermath of that fixture.
“For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” Rashford told football writer Henry Winter. “When I leave, it’s going to be no hard feelings. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United.”
Rashford’s departure would end an unhappy period for the player. He has struggled to recapture the form that saw him score 30 goals during a brilliant 2022/23 campaign, with his displays the subject of intense scrutiny in an underperforming side.
Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona and AC Milan have all expressed interest in a deal but there will have to be significant compromise from all parties to get a deal done.
Matheus Cunha
Matheus Cunha’s performances this season have earned interest from a host of Premier League clubs. Arsenal are considering an approach for the Brazilian, while high-flying Nottingham Forest are willing to break their transfer record to sign the forward.
Cunha has scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 19 league starts this season, for a Wolves side struggling near the bottom of the table. He was reportedly furious following the defeat to Chelsea on Monday night with head coach Vitor Pereira critical of his body language.

Wolves are under no pressure to sell but an offer in the region of £60m could prove tempting.
Ben Chilwell
Ben Chilwell looks likely to leave Chelsea befopre the deadline after being frozen out in West London. After being informed he does not feature in the club’s plans last summer, Chilwell has featured for 45 minutes under Enzo Maresca.
Chilwell’s high wages and injury record will concern suitors, but an established England international – who is still just 28 – does not often become so attainable on the market.
Yoane Wissa
Nottingham Forest have had a bid rejected for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s tabled an offer of around £22m but saw the proposal turned down. Forest want to bring in firepower to aid their pursuit of Champions League qualification. Taiwo Awoniyi’s injury record and interest in the Nigerian from West Ham has led Forest to explore their options.
Wissa has been a reliable source of goals at Brentford. He has reached double figures in the Premier League in each of the last two campaigns, including 11 goals in just 19 starts this season. He has averaged a Premier League goal every 186 minutes over the last two-and-a-half campaigns.
