The five favourites to win Serie A in 2024/25

It’s been a fascinating start to the season in Serie A with the division’s traditional giants all enduring mixed fortunes.

Torino are the surprise early leaders after five games, while Udinese and Empoli each sit in the top five to give the Scudetto race an unfamiliar feel early on.

Italy’s top division has been one of the most unpredictable in Europe in recent seasons, with four different title winners in the last five seasons. Could we see a new name on the trophy in 2024/25? Or will one of the established elite take the trophy home once again?

For those interested in the bookmakers’ view, we’ve used the latest odds from 1xBet to rank the five favourites to win Serie A in 2025/25.

The five favourites to win Serie A in 2024/25

Atalanta – 28/1

Atalanta have punched above their weight under Gian Piero Gasperini in recent seasons. The Bergamo-based outfit has upset the order of things in Italy, securing four top-four finishes in the last six seasons. Last season, Gasperini’s team ended their wait for silverware after beating German double-winners Bayer Leverkusen to lift the Europa League.

Ademola Lookman scored a hat-trick in that triumph and Atalanta have fended off interest from PSG to keep the Nigerian at the club. Mateo Retegui has hit the ground running since his €28m arrival from Genona, while Lazar Samardžić and Odilon Kossounou are eye-catching loan recruits.

AC Milan – 6/1

AC Milan finished as runners-up last season though ended the campaign a distant second to runaway champions Inter Milan.

The Rossoneri started the season with a three-game winless run to put new manager Paulo Fonseca under pressure but have bounced back to secure back-to-back wins and climb the table.

Their latest saw Matteo Gabbia score an 89th-minute winner to secure three points at Inter in The Derby della Madonnina. It might be the result that gives lift-off to Fonseca’s reign.

Juventus – 5/1

Juventus are aiming to return to former glories this season as the Turin side look to end a five-year wait for the Scudetto. The Bianconeri have not finished higher than third since their nine-year dominance of the division came to an end in 2019/20, though their summer recruitment has increased optimism around the club.

Nicolas Gonzalez, Douglas Luiz, Khephrem Thuram, and Teun Koopmeiners were the headline arrivals of the summer window and Juventus are yet to concede a goal in five Serie A games this season. However, three consecutive goalless draws suggest things are yet to click further forward.

Napoli – 9/2

Napoli endured a nightmare defence of their title last season, having ended a 33-year wait for the Scudetto in 2022/23. Last season, Gli Azzurri went through three different managers and ended the season 10th to miss out on Europe.

Victor Osimhen has moved on, though the arrival of head coach Antonio Conte offers reason for encouragement. A serial winner, Conte has won four Serie A titles during spells at Juventus and Inter Milan, alongside a Premier League title triumph with Chelsea.

He has reunited with a familiar face after Romelu Lukaku’s move to the club, while Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour have also arrived from the Premier League.

Napoli lost their opener but are since unbeaten in four games to sit second in the table.

Inter Milan – 4/6

Inter Milan were crowned champions last season after a stunning season for Simeone Inzaghi’s side.

The Nerazzurri ended the campaign 19 points clear of nearest challengers AC Milan in the title race and boasted the best defensive record in Europe’s top five leagues.

Inter have retained their key men this summer while adding Piotr Zieliński and Mehdi Taremi as high-profile free agents. A battling display in the Champions League at Manchester City showed their quality, though league form has been patchy with just two wins from their opening five games.
