Earlier this month, Kylian Mbappe’s journey in Euro 2024 came to a disappointing end as France lost to Spain in the semifinals.

Shortly after the defeat, Mbappe wasn’t shy in expressing his disapproval of his performances and assumed responsibility for Les Bleus‘ underperformance in the tournament.

As Mbappe looks to shift his focus to a grand Real Madrid presentation, he has received support from former German international Sami Khedira.

Khedira heaps praise on Mbappe

Khedira highlighted Mbappe’s achievements with both France and PSG and backed the forward to succeed at Real Madrid.

“As Mbappe himself said his Euros weren’t the best, but what he did at PSG, for France, in World Cups is just amazing. He fits Real Madrid, Real Madrid fits him. He will perform well there,” he said (h/t BeIN Sports).

Khedira played for Real Madrid between 2010 to 2015. During his time at Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder shared the field with some of the decorated Real Madrid players of the past, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Toni Kroos, Mesut Ozil and Gareth Bale, among others.

Currently enjoying his life as a retired footballer, the German voiced his happiness at Mbappe joining Real Madrid.

“Kylian Mbappe is an amazing player, an outstanding person, I’m very happy he’s playing for my Real Madrid,” he said.

Khedira’s words of encouragement could serve as a real confidence booster for Kylian Mbappe, who has already received immense support despite France’s underperformance in Euro 2024.

All eyes now will be on the Frenchman’s presentation at Santiago Bernabeu on July 16, which is planned to be quite the spectacle.
