Is Finding A Place For Italy Star Then “Torment” Of Inter Milan Coach?
Finding a place for Davide Frattesi in the starting eleven risks becoming the “torment” of Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
By now, Frattesi’s somewhat paradoxical situation between Italy and Inter is well-known.
The former Sassuolo is a key player for Italy. And not just off the bench – Frattesi starts virtually all of the Azzurri’s matches under Luciano Spalletti.
Moreover, Frattesi’s performances for the national team more than justify his status as a starter.
The 25-year-old is actually the Azzurri’s top scorer since Spalletti took over.
And Frattesi added to his total over the international break. He scored in a 4-1 Nations League win.
Frattesi also provides plenty more than just goals for Italy.
The Inter midfielder contributes a lot in the midfield battle. He is a player who perfectly encapsulates the direct, aggressive style of play that Italy employ under Spalletti.
Is Finding A Place For Davide Frattesi The “Torment” Of Inzaghi At Inter?
But whenever Frattesi returns from the international break, he finds that things have changed.
The 25-year-old is once again back at the Nerazzurri after a successful international break.
Inter are preparing to take on Roma in Serie A tomorrow.
And perhaps Frattesi could feel that he will have a chance of starting against the Giallorossi.
After all, the former Sassuolo man started both of Inter’s Serie A matches before the break.
But that was with Nicolo Barella out of action. And Barella has returned from injury.
It seems likely that Barella will start against Roma tomorrow as well.
And truthfully, it is not hard to see why. For all Frattesi’s quality, Barella has shown even more in both an Inter and Italy shirt.
Knowing how to give Frattesi his opportunities will not be an easy task for Nerazzurri coach Inzaghi.
