FIGC ratifies new Serie A transfer window, but not final yet

With remarkable speed, the FIGC accepted the Lega Serie A proposal to set up an extra transfer window in June 2025 to register players for the Club World Cup, but it is not final yet.

It only emerged this afternoon that the request had been made and it was accepted within hours by the Italian Football Federation.

FIFA had already worked to allow this to go ahead in various countries affected by the unusual timing of the Club World Cup in 2025.

As it runs from June to mid-July, quite a few clubs will end up with players whose contracts or loan deals expire midway through the tournament.

Inter and Juventus have qualified to represent Italy at the new and expanded version of the competition.

Still some details to be worked out on new Serie A window

The situation is not final yet in Italy, but it does open up discussion on the exact details of how this will work.

The mini-window runs from June 1-10, 2025.

This measure will be valid for all clubs in Serie A and not just those who are in the Club World Cup.

It remains to be seen how it will affect players on loan or those whose contracts are coming to a close, but it should enable clubs to register new players as early as June 1 rather than wait for July 1.
