Fifth-tier amateurs knock Lyon out of French Cup
Five-time winners Lyon were knocked out in the last 32 of the Coupe de France on penalties by an amateur team from the fifth tier of French football.
Despite the five-time winners playing stars Alexandre Lacazette, Nemanja Matic, Said Benrahma and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, they were held after normal time by minnows Bourgoin-Jallieu.
Mehdi Moujetzky opened the scoring for the Championnat National 3 side before Matic equalised just before the break.
Georges Mikautadze gave Lyon the lead after the restart but Moujetzky scored his second to take the match to penalties.
Lyon's Lacazette and Corentin Tolisso both missed in the shootout, as did Moujetzky - whose Panenka attempt was saved.
But substitute Sofiane Atik hit the winning spot-kick to send Bourgoin-Jallieu into the last 16.
The Coupe de France is no stranger to upsets from amateur sides. In 2000, fourth-tier Calais RUFC made it all the way to final, losing 2-1 to Nantes.
