Ferrari is a surprising brand to embrace the world of celebratory alternate Formula 1 schemes, but the Scuderia did two last year and is already set to do another early in the 2024 F1 season. The team has announced plans to race with at least some blue at the Miami Grand Prix, a decision said to celebrate 70 years in the American market.

The cars are set to feature two different shades of blue, Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino. The former is a lighter shade, the official racing color of Argentina. The darker, Azzurro Dino, was used on driver uniforms in the mid-1970s. Both are an odd compliment to the brand's signature Rosso Corsa, but past liveries suggest that the two tribute colors will be woven in with the red as yellow and white were in special schemes last year. If the team chooses a more extreme angle, it could riff on a two-off 1964 Ferrari livery technically run by Luigi Chinetti's North American Racing Team when the Scuderia briefly stepped away from F1 without abandoning its driver's championship pursuit.

No announcement has been set for the final liveries, but Motorsport notes that Ferrari events around the Miami GP start on April 28. An official look at the somewhat blue Ferrari could come soon afterward, about a week ahead of the car's official race debut on May 5.

When the car does race, expectations, and attention could be higher than usual. The last special livery Ferrari, the white-accented car that ran at Las Vegas, finished second after a stellar head-to-head battle between driver Charles Leclerc and Red Bull's ace Max Verstappen.
