Icons and legends have often been crafted by FC Barcelona in their own youth system over the years. A boiling pot of talent that continues to conjure and produce new gems to look forward to every few years, La Masia and the subsidiary remain one of a kind. Fortunately for Barcelona, their saviors do not always need to be superstar signings.

The likes of Lionel Messi and Bojan Krkic have already shown that bonds destined by blood can excel at the same youth system together. While it is true that one of the two ended up with a far better senior career than the other, it is widely considered that they were two of the most promising youth prospects simultaneously when they were in those youth categories.

Fortunately for Barcelona, they are not the last of their kind it seems. A new generation brings about new young heroes to look forward to, and the Catalan club has no shortage of those. Interestingly, however, the latest of those heroes are two cousins that have been turning heads for quite some time already.

Guille and Toni Fernandez are the names to remember as the two cousins continue to dominate the youth categories of Barcelona. As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, moreover, both of them played a crucial role in Barça Atletic’s recent 3-0 victory over Ourense in the Primera RFEF and one of them even managed to make a club record his own in the process.

Following Victor Barbera’s opening goal in the 34th minute that came through a penalty, both cousins ended up scoring a wondrous goal each before the halftime whistle. First came Toni’s goal, which was easily the most impressive of the game, and it makes him the youngest ever goalscorer for Barcelona Atletic at the age of 16 years, one month and three days.

After a lofted pass found it’s way to him in the opposition box close to the 42nd minute following his own one-two to the area, the player pulled off a surreal scissor kick in a position where he was surrounded by rival defenders. Instead of hesitating for even a second, the younger of the two cousins scored a magical goal and earned himself a massive club record to attach to his name.

Guille, not one to be left behind, made sure to showcase some of his own magic as well. Right before the half-time break, the player received a pass from his 16-year-old cousin and let loose a violent strike that whistled into the top corner leaving the Ourense goalkeeper simply staring at it as he stood still.

By the final whistle, Albert Sanchez’s Barcelona Atletic won the game with a convincing 3-0 score. With both the Fernandez cousins leading the charge and showing only a glimpse of what is to come if Barça continues to count on them, exciting days are possibly coming up ahead for the club as they continue to see their young prospects step up when they are needed.
