Fermín López names the Barcelona teammate who ‘surprised me most’ after senior call-up
Barcelona star Fermín López has on Friday named the player who surprised him most with his quality, upon the Spaniard’s initial emergence onto the senior stage in Catalunya’s capital.
Youngster Fermín is of course now considered an integral member of the first-team setup at Barcelona, when it comes to present and future alike.
The 21-year-old is fresh off a breakout campaign in 2023/24, which saw him rack up a head-turning 11 goals across all competitions.
As much was followed by a thoroughly productive summer, too, Fermín having followed up on Spain’s triumph at Euro 2024 by proving himself the country’s star performer en route to Olympic gold.
After this week being rewarded with a new long-term contract by the Barcelona brass, the midfielder, on Friday, sat down for an interview with Blaugrana journalist Gerard Romero.
And it was during this exchange that Fermín revealed the identity of the player who left him most surprised, en route to his first-team emergence last season:
“The player who surprised me the most when I came up to the first team was Frenkie de Jong.”
