Felipe Nasr, Porsche Penske claim historic, back-to-back Rolex 24 wins

Felipe Nasr delivered a second consecutive IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Rolex 24 at Daytona overall victory for team owner Roger Penske and Porsche in an exciting conclusion Sunday to the iconic endurance sports car race.

Piloting the No. 7 Porsche 939 in the GTP class, Nasr passed teammate Matt Campbell in the closing, frenzied minutes of the 24-hour race. Campbell faded to third, with Tom Blomqvist taking runner-up in the No. 60 Acura ARX-06. The pole-winning entry of the No. 24 BMW M Hybrid V8 and drier Dries Vanthoor placed fourth, with Filipe Albuquerque rounding out the top five in the No. 10 Cadillac V-Series.R.

NASCAR superstars Shane van Gisbergen, Conor Zilisch and Austin Cindric represented the stock-car racing world in the premier event, with the former two teaming in the No. 91 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3 and the 2022 Daytona 500 winner in the No. 64 Ford Mustang GT3, subbing for an injured Ben Barker. Both entries competed in the GTD Pro division, with the No. 64 landing third (19th overall) and the No. 91 finishing ninth (25th overall).

The next WeatherTech Championship race is the 73rd Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring on March 15 at Sebring International Raceway.
