'Feisty pre-season has Hibs raring to go' - Cadden

Hibernian's narrow win over German third-tier side MSV Duisburg produced plenty of positives, according to Chris Cadden, as the team get to grips with David Gray's demands of "high-intensity football".

Josh Campbell's first-half header was all that separated the sides but defender Cadden admitted it was another crucial test under the new head coach with the start of the competitive season looming.

"It was good to just get back playing football, an 11-a-side game," Cadden, 27, said.

"It was a good test for the boys, I thought they looked sharp and they were a good team so a good way to get prepared for the start of the season.

"The gaffer had a meeting with us yesterday and told us what he wants from us in his style of play, so drip-feeding us information, especially for the new boys, was good to get.

"He wants high intensity so it was good to get them used to that."

Cadden played his part in the second half, with Gray naming a fresh team at the interval, after which tackles started to fly in.

"I always find that pre-season games end up like that, I don't know why," Cadden added.

"It was a little bit feisty, they were throwing a few challenges in, we did it as well, but it gets you ready for the start of the season.

"It's been tough, but that's what pre-season is about, we're well aware of that. It's a shorter pre-season with the League Cup coming so early so it's good to get the hard work in."
