Real Madrid star Federico Valverde has on Wednesday passed his blessing on to teammate Arda Güler, after the latter took over ownership of his Blancos squad number.

The subject of shirt numbers has of course dominated the headlines in Spain’s capital across the day to date.

This comes owing to a considerable shake-up in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

With the likes of Toni Kroos and Nacho having now moved on, younger members of Real Madrid’s ranks have been rewarded with new, more recognisable jerseys.

Eduardo Camavinga, for example, has taken up ownership of Nacho’s No.6, whilst Federico Valverde has been given the honour of inheriting Toni Kroos’ 8.

And, owing to the latter development, Arda Güler, too, has taken a step closer to the first XI in terms of shirt number.

The Turkish sensation, fresh off a stellar Euro 2024 campaign with his country, has replaced Fede Valverde as the no.15 at the Santiago Bernabéu.

And the Uruguayan certainly appears to approve of as much…

Taking to his official Instagram account on Wednesday evening, Valverde posted a comment under Real Madrid’s latest jersey number update, reading:

“Arda”, alongside a series of ‘top’ emojis.

And Güler soon revealed his appreciation for as much, tagging his teammate, and adding a series of heart emojis:
