FC Köln transfer ban over: Is Bundesliga quality now coming?

FC Köln’s two period transfer ban is finally coming to an end this January and the club are already planning to bring in Bundesliga quality, according to Kicker.

Newly relegated to the 2. Bundesliga, the Billygoats have struggled to adapt to life in the second tier. Currently on 18 points and in 8th position, Köln’s season is still savable and a push for promotion is not off the cards in an incredibly competitive division.

January is going to be a crucial transfer window for Gerhard Struber’s side and there are already rumours of Bundesliga quality coming to the RheinEnergieSTADION.

New Striker From the Bundesliga?

Köln are currently monitoring Union Berlin forward Ivan Prtajin ahead of a potential deal.

The 28-year-old Croatian moved to Union last summer from Wehen Wiesbaden for €1m having scored 13 goals in the second division last term.

However, due to injuries, the forward has yet to make an impact with Union and hasn’t featured in the Bundesliga this campaign.

A tall striker who knows how to score goals in the second division, Köln could make a move for Prtajin and hope he reaches his former highs and stays injury free.

However, it’s possible that the Billygoats could face competition from Bundesliga clubs for Prtajin’s signature.
