FC Barcelona transfers in 2024/25: Analysing and rating each signing
With the transfer market slamming to a shut on August 30, Barcelona are locked and ready for the new season.
The Catalans have already enjoyed a brilliant start to the new season, with four wins in four matches. This comes despite the fact that the club had a relatively poor transfer market, where their hands were very virtually tied due to strict FFP regulations.
Barcelona were linked with moves for players such as Nico Williams, Federico Chiesa and Jonathan Tah, among others. But they were only able to sign Dani Olmo while Pau Victor joined from Girona.
Here, at Barça Universal, we will rank Barcelona’s new signings and how they can adapt to the club’s project in the years to come.
Dani Olmo
Transfer Rating: 9/10
Dani Olmo’s capture was an absolute masterclass from Barcelona this summer. The Spaniard’s profile is something Barça needed for a long time.
But perhaps the most important aspect of Olmo’s signing is the way coach Hansi Flick has utilised his services.
The German tactician has not employed Olmo in a wide role, as a direct upgrade for Raphinha. Instead, he has deployed the Spanish international in a number ten role.
Needless to say, Olmo has flourished, notably scoring two goals in his first two matches. His link-up play with the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Pedri, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal has been quite impressive.
Going forward, Olmo will serve as a key source of creativity for Barcelona. But it will be interesting to see how Flick utilises his services once Gavi and Frenkie de Jong return to the fold.
Pau Victor
Transfer Rating: 8.5/10
Pau Victor was initially seen as a reinforcement for Barça Atletic when he joined the club in a €2.7 million move from Girona.
But following his exceptional performances during the pre-season, he was instantly elevated to a first-team role by coach Flick.
Now that Barcelona gear up for the new season, Victor appears to be quite the bargain. The young forward has shown the ability to perform at the highest level and could prove to be a lethal option upfront.
In the current season, Victor is likely to serve as an alternative for Lewandowski, though he has featured in only 6 minutes of league action so far.
