Out-of-favour Barcelona star’s agent breaks silence on future – ‘These are questions for Barça’
Barcelona forward Ansu Fati has been linked with an exit from the club, either in the upcoming January transfer window or the summer later in the year.
The 22-year-old has once again been hit hard by injuries, leading to him falling out of favour at the club, with the likes of Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, Pau Victor, and Ferran Torres ahead of him.
Given that he has barely featured this season, Barça are said to be open to a loan exit in January although they are open to keeping him – leaving the final decision to the player.
But the general idea is that Fati is not in Hansi Flick’s plans for next season and he will be ushered out in the summer of 2025.
Jorge Mendes discusses Ansu Fati’s future
In a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo, Jorge Mendes, the agent of Fati, addressed the chatter surrounding his client’s future and whether an exit is possible either in January or the summer.
“These are questions for Barça. Barça knows better the plans they have and what the coach thinks. In football, everything changes in five minutes. We must wait and see,” said the superagent.
“He has proven that he had the courage to play for Barça and that he has an incredible level. What Ansu needs is confidence and to solve his problems. And when he is at his best, Barça will need him.”
Talking about the forward’s disappointing situation, Mendes remarked: “Two years ago, he was at the top of the world, and he has really had bad luck.
“I hope that soon he will overcome all these adversities, and he will for sure, because he is a tremendous player. He is a great player who, unfortunately, has been punished by injuries, but he is a player who has won the heart of the Barça fans.”
Praise for Alejandro Balde
Apart from lavishing praise on Lamine Yamal, Mendes also touched upon another Barcelona youngster whom he represents – Alejandro Balde – calling him the No. 1 in his position.
“What I can tell you is that before renewing with Barça, the best clubs in Europe wanted him, and Barça knows that, so there is no doubt about it,” said the Portuguese agent.
“They knew the difficult situation that Barça were in and that they could take advantage of it, but Barça made the right decision not to sell him despite receiving important offers, and there is no doubt about that.”
“In terms of players in his position, he is also number one,” he added.
Not stopping at that, Mendes further stated that he sees Balde stay at Barcelona for a very long time, like he does with Lamine.
“Yes, like Lamine I see him for many years at Barça. And he is a Barça player too (laughs),” he remarked.
