Fans react to Jim Schlossnagle leaving Texas A&M for Texas after College World Series loss
Jim Schlossnagle said he planned on staying at Texas A&M following its College World Series loss at the hands of the University of Tennessee.
However, those plans didn’t stop Schlossnagle from accepting the head coaching job at the University of Texas on Tuesday.
College baseball fans and pundits reacted to Schlossnagle’s departure on social media with many not only upset at his departure but the way he left College Station.
Calling a reporter “selfish” while saying you aren’t leaving Texas A&M only to accept the job at Texas less than 24 hours later is wild. Just another example of why college athletes need to look after themselves first and foremost.pic.twitter.com/Xk0MGuTUJk

Those players fought their ass off for that team and for Texas A&M.
To do what they did while overcoming injuries and a HC who was already halfway out the door is incredible.
And then to lie on national media and have your players find out online that your leaving? Embarrassing.— B Money (@Bryce_miller9) June 26, 2024
Texas just stole the most successful Baseball Coach in Texas A&M history the day after A&M played for a National Championship in a major sport for the first time since 1939… the year Texas is going to the SEC & the year the Longhorn and Aggie Rivalry is back. pic.twitter.com/YpxgLHxlRE

Ryan Targac, this year’s 12TH MAN of Texas A&M baseball, found out today’s news on Twitter.
That’s NASTY WORK by Jim Schlossnagle. pic.twitter.com/KdaTYinaum— SEC Unfiltered (@SECUnfiltered) June 26, 2024
Schlossnagle could have said: "Look, we just lost the national championship. This is about my players, our fans and Texas A&M. There'll be a time to address your question, but that time is not now."

You can’t “fall in love with A&M and the 12th Man” and then go take that job. Clearly this was just a job for him. You don’t truly love Texas A&M and what it represents, and saw ‘em off after every game, and then go take that job. Unless this was just a job for you.

I’m bummed for the Texas A&M players. They deserve to be celebrating making it to the CWS finals and the success they had this season. A tough 24 hours for the guys

The nerve to say "I took the job at Texas A&M to never take a job again" while he was already taking another job is wild. https://t.co/1c4XQ60ojC

As much as I love rivalries and conspiracies....I don't buy the fact that Texas planned this timing to hurt A&M.
In doing so, you'd have to believe that Texas leadership wanted to put their future HC in bad spot.
I don't believe that's how Del Conte operates. https://t.co/jGcnMEitqQ— Peter Burns (@PeterBurnsESPN) June 26, 2024
