Facebook will reportedly send notification if you liked, commented, shared a removed COVID-19 post

Facebook will reportedly send a notification to users who engaged with COVID-19 posts that violated the company's terms of service and were subsequently removed.

According to Fast Company, if users like, comment or share a removed post related to COVID-19, Facebook will send a notification explaining why the post was taken down. The notification leads to another page with a screenshot of the post and a brief explanation for why it was eliminated, the report says.

The new feature will also include links to educational resources about COVID-19 and recommended actions the user should take, such as unfollowing the group that published the post, said the report.

Facebook couldn't be immediately reached for comment.

On Dec. 3, the social media platform announced it would remove vaccine misinformation on Facebook and Instagram. In March, the company began placing accurate information from health organizations at the top of the news feeds.

Other social media giants have taken similar efforts. Twitter announced in November that it's testing a "misleading information" warning when a user tries to "Like" a tweet it says contains misinformation about civic integrity, COVID-19 and synthetic and manipulated media.
