From Fabrizio Romano: Manchester City launch official bid for Bundesliga star

Manchester City have submitted an official bid for Eintracht Frankfurth and Egypt star Omar Marmoush on Tuesday, it has been confirmed.

The Premier League champions are continuing to make the Bundesliga star their next top priority in the window having already secured agreements for two names to strengthen their defensive unit this season.

Abdukodir Khusanov is expected to become the first arrival upon receiving a work permit after Lens and Manchester City agreed upon a deal worth €40 million plus bonuses for the Uzbek defender, while Vitor Reis is now travelling to the UK from Sao Paulo.

The 19-year-old was being held by his club Palmeiras who had clear intentions of retaining the versatile defender’s services until after this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup in the United States. However, a £29.5 million move will see the player move to the Etihad immediately.

That leaves Manchester City working on a deal that they long viewed as being the most ambitious, despite the player’s clear intention to make a switch to the Premier League giants happen this month.

But now, according to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have submitted an official bid to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt for their star forward, Omar Marmoush.

It is clarified however that the opening offer from the Premier League champions is still below the Bundesliga side’s expectations, but both clubs are negotiating with optimism towards an agreement.

With a transfer fee currently being discussed, Romano reports that there is hope to seal a deal for the 25-year-old this week, although the versatile forward is expected to feature for his club against SC Freiburg tonight.

This is a developing story. More to follow.
