Yahoo Sports Turner 'conscious' after suspected cardiac arrest
Farsley Celtic say captain Lewis Turner is "conscious and talking" after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest during his side's FA Trophy match against Gateshead.
Play was suspended after 28 minutes on Tuesday when the 32-year-old collapsed on the field.
Both teams returned to the changing rooms as Turner underwent treatment on the pitch and he was rushed to hospital after being resuscitated.
The match was later abandoned, with Gateshead leading 1-0.
"Thanks to the superb professional work by the medical staff and paramedics Lewis was resuscitated and was taken to hospital," a statement from Farsley Celtic read.
"It is with great relief and happiness that we can report that Lewis is conscious and talking."
Farsley Celtic added the incident "put life into context".
Turner spent time with the Leeds United academy before playing in non-league for the likes of Chester and Harrogate Town.
His former club Leeds said on X: "The thoughts of everyone at LUFC are with Lewis at this time and we're all wishing him a speedy recovery."
