Expert Outlines PSG’s Stance on Struggling Manchester United Star
Manchester United parted ways with Erik ten Hag this week, closing a chapter at the club. Now, the focus shifts to which players will be key to the Red Devils’ future, and one of them is Marcus Rashford.
Meanwhile, TEAMTalk reported this month that Paris Saint-Germain has rekindled its interest in Rashford. Although the hurdles that blocked a summer move are still present, the Ligue 1 club is said to be eyeing a potential transfer next year.
Rashford will now play under a new manager, with Ruben Amorim now taking over the job. One pundit believes this might be the forward’s last chance to cement his place at the club.
“It’s make or break time for Marcus, it really is,” Ally McCoist said on talkSPORT. “You can talk about managers coming in, whether it’s [Jose] Mourinho, [Louis] van Gaal, Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] or Ten Hag.
“Never mind the manager, just go and play, go and put in a level of performance yourself. If he asks you to do a job, go and do it.”
Should PSG be in the mix for Marcus Rashford again?
The Parisians are having trouble scoring, and while the Englishman isn’t in his best form, he scored 30 goals across all competitions during the 2022-23 season. Nonetheless, Football Transfer’s Robin Bairner believes PSG should stay away from the forward.
“I would almost be surprised if there was not a resurgence in rumors linking him to PSG again, although, for me, he’s not necessarily a player that PSG needs because of the attitude that comes with him or seems to come with him,” Bairner said on the latest PSG Talk Extra Time podcast.
“The type of fee that Manchester United would be asking for for a player who’s come through their academy, who’s popular with the supporters, would be significant and probably blown well out of proportion compared to his, perhaps not ability, but certainly what the form he’s shown over the last couple of years.
“For me, he’s not necessarily a player that PSG should want or need, but equally, I think he’ll be a player who PSG will be linked to. I don’t necessarily think there’ll be anything concrete in those links, but I think the rumors will come.”
