Experienced forward Georgia Walters has signed a new one-year contract with Blackburn Rovers.

The Lancashire club announced the news via a post on their official club X account this afternoon.

Walters joined Blackburn Rovers last summer after leaving former club Sheffield United. The 31-year-old Welsh international forward went on to make 25 appearances for Simon Parker’s side in all competitions in which she scored two goals. Walters helped Blackburn Rovers to record their highest-ever finish in the Barclays Women’s Championship last season. The Lancashire side ended the campaign in sixth position with a final points tally of 36. The player also enjoyed a spell with Blackburn Rovers between 2020 and 2021 prior to her move to Liverpool.

Blackburn Rovers have been a club that have offered opportunities to young players in recent seasons and in forward Walters, they have a model professional to help guide those youngsters on in their careers. Walters is a tough player who is undeterred by difficult challenges; she has all of the qualities needed to be successful in the Barclays Women’s Championship.

Walters is the second player to sign a new contract with Blackburn Rovers this summer. Goalkeeper Alex Brooks has also put pen to paper on a new one-year deal at Ewood Park.
