Ex-Sabres Star Heating Up With New Team

The Buffalo Sabres made a big decision this past off-season when they bought out Jeff Skinner. From there, Skinner went on to sign a one-year, $3 million contract with the Edmonton Oilers.

Skinner has had a slow start to the season, as he has five goals, 11 points, and a minus-8 rating in 27 games. While these numbers are low for Skinner's standards, he is starting to break the ice.

Over his last four games with the Oilers, Skinner has one goal to go along with four points. This includes a two-point night against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Dec. 5. This is certainly a step in the right direction for the 2010 seventh-overall pick.

Skinner will now look to build on his hot stretch of play from here. When noting that he had 24 goals and 46 points in 74 games just last season with the Sabres, he has the potential to be a more significant difference-maker for Edmonton.
