Ex-Roma goalkeeper Michael Konsel: “I get goosebumps when I go the Stadio Olimpico.”
Former Roma goalkeeper Michael Konsel discussed his bond with the Giallorossi.
In an interview with the capital club, Konsel spoke ahead of the match with Venezia.
“I had a great time in Rome, with an impressive fan base, I found a second home here,” said the Austrian shot-stopper.
“When I come to Rome I feel at home. Venice is a beautiful city, but the football environment is different and it wasn’t like in Rome.”
“I have formed a wonderful relationship with the fans here, especially in the Curva Sud. It’s hard to explain but I still get goosebumps when I come to the Stadio Olimpico,” he said.
“The best moments with Roma? There are so many, but especially the derbies. The derby is special and different, there is a lot of pressure.”
“I also remember saving a penalty from Batistuta against Fiorentina. I remember playing almost like a defender against Juventus, like all goalkeepers play now. I was one of the first goalkeepers capable of playing with his feet.”
