Ex-PSG Standout ‘Determined to Succeed’ at Manchester United as Transfer Becomes Official
Manuel Ugarte officially completed his move from Paris Saint-Germain to Manchester United on Friday. After the move was announced by the two clubs, the Uruguayan offered his first words as a member of the Red Devils.
Journalist Duncan Castles reported this week that the only reason Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte is on the move is because PSG manager Luis Enrique doesn’t see him in his plans. According to Castles, PSG’s negotiating team made it clear to Manchester United that they didn’t want to lose Ugarte.
However, they were willing to let him go because Enrique wasn’t using him as much as expected, and Ugarte was eager for a transfer. The report also mentions that PSG believes Ugarte could become one of Manchester United’s standout players in the future.
Now that the deal is complete, Ugarte spoke about his emotions regarding his arrival at Old Trafford, but his debut will have to wait as he’ll not be available for the match against Liverpool.
“It is an incredible feeling to join a club of this magnitude; one that is admired all around the world,” Ugarte said (h/t Manchester Evening News). “The project that the football leadership discussed with me is extremely exciting; Manchester United is an ambitious club and I am an ambitious player.

“The passion of supporters is something that is very important to me; I know how incredible United fans are and I cannot wait to experience Old Trafford. I’m someone who is so determined to succeed; I will sacrifice and give everything for my teammates. Together we will fight to win trophies and reach the level where this club needs to be.”
