Inter Milan midfielder Piotr Zielinski revealed his start to life at his new club wasn’t too smooth, admitting some struggles during pre-season.

The 30-year-old ended an eight-year collaboration with Napoli last summer to join the Nerazzurri on a free transfer.

However, it took the Polish star a while before making his Inter debut.

The former Udinese man endured some physical problems during pre-season which delayed his maiden appearance for the Italian champions.

Zielinski claims he had his toughest pre-season since arriving in Italy as a teenager.

“I arrived at a big club, where they make go through some rough training,” said the Poland international in his interview with Kanał Sportowy via FcInterNews.

“The first three or four days of pre-season were tough. The preparation period was probably the most difficult since I arrived in Italy.

“In Milano, a player has everything he needs, he just has to think about playing well.”

While Zielinski’s move to Inter became official in July, the two parties had already shaken hands several months before.

However, the midfielder insists he had several other suitors across Europe, including Premier League clubs and Barcelona. However, his attachment to Italy tipped the scale in favor of a Serie A stay.

“Liverpool, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Juventus were interested in me. I had specific requests from Barcelona. I like Italy.”

“When I arrived at Napoli, I felt good, it would have been difficult for me to go to England, for example.

“I would have considered Spain, but the priority was to continue my career in Italy. I’m at Inter, but Napoli is also a great club and I would have been happy to extend my contract.”
