Ex Juventus & Fiorentina Midfielder Hopes ‘Juventus Can Cause Inter Milan Problems In Serie A Like Last Season’

Former Juventus and Fiorentina midfielder Angelo Di Livio is hoping the Bianconeri can give Inter Milan a real title race in Serie A next season.

The former Italy international gave his thoughts on his old team’s prospects of catching up to the Nerazzurri under new coach Thiago Motta to Radio Bianconera, via FCInter1908.

Last season, Inter ended up winning the Serie A title by an enormous margin.

In truth, it was hardly an entertaining title race for the neutral after the start of February.

But prior to that, there had been real tension. Juventus had pushed Inter every step of the way prior to the spring.

But the second half of the campaign brought a dramatic collapse in form for the Bianconeri.

In the end, Juventus did not even finish in second spot – they ended the season third in the table behind the Nerazzurri and AC Milan.

Di Livio: “Hope Juventus Can Cause Inter Problems In Serie A”

Perhaps inevitably, Juventus reacted to the shocking form of the second half of last season.

The Turin giants did not even wait until the end of the campaign to dismiss Max Allegri as head coach.

The veteran tactician had kept the Bianconeri at pace with Inter for months, but it became clear that he was not the man to lead the team based on how they fell off.

Juventus have brought in former Inter and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta as coach.

The 43-year-old won plaudits for achieving a surprise Champions League qualification with Bologna last season.

Moreover, the Bianconeri are supporting Motta with an ambitious summer transfer window.

Former Juventus midfielder Di Livio said that “Thiago has a well-defined, technical, and proactive style of play.”

“Winning the title is tricky for anyone,” he continued. “Few have managed it.”

“But I’m confident because [Sporting Director Cristiano] Giuntoli is doing a great job. He’s signing players who are full of motivation.”

“I hope Juve can cause Inter problems as with the first half of last season,” Di Livio said.
