Ex Inter Milan UEFA Cup Winner Makes Damning Admission After Juventus Draw: “I Was Angry”

Former Inter Milan striker Ivan Zamorano has offered an honest opinion following a frustrating 4-4 Derby d’Italia draw against Juventus.

During his chat with Italian journalist Gianluca Rossi, as reported by FCInterNews, Zamorano explained his feelings after Sunday’s goal-glutted stalemate at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Inter could get three points over the line despite going in front twice in the game.

Piotr Zielinski converted an early penalty to fire Simone Inzaghi’s team 1-0 up.

However, Juventus turned the game on its head through Dusan Vlahovic and Timothy Weah.

The visitors’ celebration was short-lived as Inter regained the lead before halftime.

Zielinski’s second penalty followed up Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s brilliant strike to restore the home team’s advantage at the break.

Less than ten minutes into the second half, Denzel Dumfries put clear daylight between the sides.

At that moment, it looked like Inter would beat Juventus in back-to-back league meetings for the first time since 2004.

But Kenan Yildiz bagged a brace off the bench to rescue a point for Thiago Motta’s charges.

Neither team benefited much from this result, considering Napoli extended their lead at Serie A’s table summit to four points.

“I was at the stadium with my son, who’s also a forward,” Zamorano stated.

” “I got frustrated because it was a game Inter could have won. The draw didn’t seem fair; Inter were superior to Juventus.

“It’s a shame because the team put in an incredible effort and played a fantastic match. Those two late goals weren’t great, and as fans, we weren’t thrilled.

“Is it true that winning again is harder than the first time? That’s because we’re Inter, and we have to suffer!

“I feel there was a bit of a lack of focus, and the counter-attacks at 4-2 could have been handled more wisely.

“But I did see a lot of commitment from the players,” Zamorano added.

Despite all the frustration, the 57-year-old remains optimistic for the rest of the season.

“Inter can win the Scudetto, Coppa Italia, and Champions League.

“It’s a team with a fantastic squad depth, with two players for every position, though we must improve defensively.

“There’s no issue from midfield forward; the team always scores, but we need to tighten up at the back.

“Are they more mentally focused in Europe? I think the club’s primary goal is to excel in the Champions League, especially since we deserved to win two years ago.

“The league is important, but right now, the focus is on the Champions League. Currently, we’re second in the standings, not far from Napoli.

“Conte is a special coach, and Napoli doesn’t have the fatigue from European competition. I’d also include Milan in the title race; they’re facing some challenges but have a very strong squad.”

Zamorano hailed Mkhitaryan’s rise to stardom at Meazza.

“I really like Mkhitaryan; his development at Inter has been fantastic,” he said.

“I also love how Lautaro Martinez and Thuram play together, as if they’ve been doing it for years.

“Against Juventus, Piotr Zielinski looked like h has adjusted perfectly, which isn’t always easy.

“Lautaro even let him take two penalties, which was fantastic and something I really appreciated.”
