Ex Inter Milan Defender Makes Bold Claim: “Simone Inzaghi Wants Another Scudetto” Over Champions League Glory
Daniele Adani is adamant Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi prefers another Serie A title over UEFA Champions League glory.
During his latest discussion on the Twitch channel Vivaelfutbolreal, as reported by FCInterNews, Adani discussed Inter’s goals this season.
Inter enjoyed a dominant run to their first Scudetto under Simone Inzaghi last term.
Except for a pair of defeats to the relegated Sassuolo, they avoided defeat in all 36 remaining league outings.
Furthermore, they were the division’s most prolific attack with 89 goals, at least 13 more than any other side.
Their attacking ambitions didn’t come at the expense of the defensive aspect.
With only 22 goals conceded, they boasted the best defensive record in Serie A.
However, things have changed at the beginning of their title-defending campaign.
Before back-to-back wins ‘to nil’ against Empoli and Venezia last week, Inter had struggled defensively.
Indeed, they conceded 13 goals in the opening nine rounds.
Meanwhile, they’ve not been as sharp in front of goal as last season.
Despite netting 25 league goals, they’ve been wasteful in the final third.
Yet, they’ve been flawless in the Champions League.
Following a scoreless draw at Manchester City, they’ve won consecutive European games via an aggregate score of 5-0.
That hasn’t convinced Adani of Inzaghi’s effort to conquer the most prestigious club competition.
Daniele Adani Believes Inter Milan Boss Simone Inzaghi Preferes Another Scudetto Over Champions League Title
“Last year, Inter scored 2-3 goals per match, meaning they created at least 6-7 chances per game – this is the emphasis,” Adani claimed.
“It’s not necessary to replicate those numbers; it’s not written anywhere.
“On the other hand, the lack of defensive solidity is not easy to explain; in my opinion, it stems from an excess of self-confidence.
“If Inter regains focus, they will win the Scudetto; if they float in this bipolarity, things won’t always go their way, as we’ve seen with Juve.
“The Champions League is a difficult goal; if you concentrate too much effort on the Cup, you risk dropping points in this league.
“Inzaghi wants to put another Scudetto in the trophy cabinet; I can put that in writing,” he insisted.
