Ex Inter Milan Coach Argues Nerazzurri Must ‘Rediscover Their Ruthlessness’ To Win Serie A Title
Andrea Stramaccioni believes that Inter Milan must “rediscover their ruthlessness” if they are to win the Serie A title.
The former Nerazzurri coach gave his thoughts to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908.
Inter drew with Bologna in Serie A on Wednesday.
This result once again introduced the doubts about the Nerazzurri’s title defense.
Inter had not dropped points in the league in over two months. That had seen them really turn up the pressure on the likes of Napoli and Atalanta in the title race.
However, both the result and performance against Bologna suggested that there are some chinks in Inter’s armour.
Stramaccioni: “Inter Must Rediscover Their Ruthlessness To Win Serie A Title”
Former Nerazzurri coach Stramaccioni said that “I’m still convinced that Inter are the team best-equipped to win the Serie A title.”
“Both on a technical and a mental level,” the former coach continued.
“I said that in August, before the league began. And I’ll repeat it now, even with this Nerazzurri side stumbling more often, like in the Supercoppa derby or against Bologna.”
Stramaccioni argued that “Inter are the strongest team in the league because they have the best squad, and they have depth.”
“There’s quality, technical solutions, and international solutions,” he said of Inter’s squad.
Stramaccioni went on that “Everything at Inter is of the highest level.”
“However, in football, you never start out as winners. In Italy, you have to win every match on the pitch by giving your all against every opponent.”
“Until the last second of added time.”
Stramaccioni suggested that “Simone Inzaghi and the Inter team know this well.”
“They have to rediscover their ruhtlessness. Teams have taken advantage of the lapses they’ve had in some matches.”
