Aube-Kubel, 28, signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Sabres this past off-season. In 19 games with the Sabres this season, he has one goal, one assist, 33 hits, and a minus-4 rating. This is after he had six goals and 16 points in 60 games with the Washington Capitals last season.
Teams looking for a bit more energy and grit in their bottom six could consider claiming Aube-Kubel. However, if he clears waivers, he will be heading to the Sabres' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Rochester Americans.
Aube-Kubel was selected by the Flyers with the 48th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. In 102 games as a Flyer over four seasons, he had 10 goals and 28 points.
