Ex-Devils Star Traded In Monster 3-Team Swap

Former New Jersey Devils star forward Taylor Hall is on the move again.

Hall has been traded by the Chicago Blackhawks to the Carolina Hurricanes in a massive three-team blockbuster involving the Colorado Avalanche as well.

The Hurricanes have acquired Hall, superstar forward Mikko Rantanen, and the signing rights of prospect Nils Juntorp in the three-team swap. The Avalanche have added Martin Necas, Jack Drury, a 2025 second-round pick, and a 2026 fourth-round pick. As for Chicago, they are retaining half of Rantanen's salary and have reacquired their 2025 third-round pick from Carolina.

Hall will now be going from one of the NHL's worst teams to a legitimate contender with the Hurricanes. While Rantanen is the bigger name going to Carolina, Hall still has the potential to be a great addition to the Canes. This is because he still provides solid offense and should fit nicely in their middle six and on their power play.

In 46 games this season, Hall has nine goals and 24 points. He has also been trending in the right direction as this season has carried on, posting 10 points in his last 14 games.

With this move, the Hurricanes have gotten stronger. This is not ideal for the Devils, as they are trying to catch them in the standings.

In 211 games over four seasons with the Devils, Hall had 76 goals and 208 points. He also won the Hart Memorial Trophy as a Devil in 2017-18.
