Ex-Bruins Star Dominating With New Team

One of the Boston Bruins' most notable roster departures this off-season was Jake DeBrusk. The 2015 first-round pick hit the free-agent market on July 1 and quickly signed a seven-year, $38.5 million contract with the Vancouver Canucks.

DeBrusk, 27, is now expected to be a crucial part of the Canucks' forward group for many years to come. He certainly left a good first impression in his pre-season debut for the Canucks last night (Sept. 25) against the Calgary Flames, as he scored two goals.

DeBrusk showed off his excellent hand-eye coordination with his first goal, as he tipped in a Vincent Desharnais point shot.

However, DeBrusk's second goal was far more significant, as it was the overtime winner. On the play, Canucks superstar Elias Pettersson gave DeBrusk a perfect feed in front, and the former Bruin quickly one-timed it home.

This was undoubtedly an excellent way for DeBrusk to introduce himself to Canuck fans. He is already starting to form chemistry with Pettersson, and it will be very interesting to see what kind of year No. 74 has in Vancouver from here.
