Ex-Bruins Forward Could Be Next Ranger Traded

Due to their shocking struggles, the Rangers have already traded away former captain Jacob Trouba and forward Kaapo Kakko. However, they are not done shaking up their roster, and a former Boston Bruins forward could be the next player to go – Reilly Smith.
Smith, 33, was acquired by the Rangers during this past off-season. Overall, he had some ups and downs this season, posting seven goals, nine assists, and a minus-1 rating in 35 games. He was also notably healthy scratched back in late November.
With Smith being a pending unrestricted free agent, he is standing out as a prime rental candidate. Teams looking for more secondary offensive production and experience could express interest in the veteran winger as we get closer to the deadline.
When playing at his best, Smith is an impactful middle-six forward. His playoff experience also makes him an appealing player. It will be interesting to see if the former Bruin ends up being the next Ranger traded from here.
