It is easy to understand why Lauzon is drawing interest. The 27-year-old plays an incredibly heavy game, and playoff teams always love physical defensemen. In addition, the Val-d'Or Quebec native has an affordable $2 million cap hit until the completion of the 2025-26 season. The Nashville Predators have also had a brutal start to the season, so it makes sense that teams are inquiring about Lauzon.
Lauzon has appeared in 22 games this season, where he has one assist to go along with an impressive 103 hits. During this past season with the Predators, he set career highs with six goals and 14 points. He also set an NHL single-season record with 386 hits.
However, while teams are expressing interest in Lauzon, Friedman also noted that the Predators do not want to move him. It is understandable, as he is a key part of their blueline due to his hard-nosed style of play and shutdown ability. However, that likely won't stop teams from trying to acquire him as we continue to get closer to the deadline.
The Bruins selected Lauzon with the 52nd overall pick of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. In 76 games over three seasons as a Bruin, he had three goals, 11 points, 145 hits, and a plus-12 rating.
