Victor Font, a former presidential candidate for FC Barcelona, has spoken out about the reasons why opposition groups are calling for the resignation of the club’s current president, Joan Laporta.

Font believes the situation is serious and urgent. He highlighted recent events involving players such as Dani Olmo, Pau Victor, and Thomas Heurtel, which he sees as clear examples of the mismanagement affecting the club.

“The cases of Dani Olmo, Pau Victor and Heurtel I think they are the latest flagrant examples of the inability to manage an institution like Barça,” he told TV3.

According to Font, these issues demonstrate the inability of Laporta’s administration to effectively manage FC Barcelona, which he considers a major problem.

Asking for Laporta’s resignation

Font is firm in his belief that the only solution to the club’s current crisis is for Laporta to step down.

He argues that this is essential to modernize and professionalize Barcelona, which he feels has the potential to achieve much more under better leadership.

“It is very important, urgent that Laporta steps aside, it is the only way we have to professionalize the club, to modernize it and to face all the potential we have.”

One of Font’s main concerns is that the current board has shown an “inability to face the challenges we have, but above all, to take advantage of the potential, which is brutal enormous.”

Barcelona should not rely on external matters

He insists that Barcelona needs to do things better than other clubs, ensuring they do not rely on external factors such as La Liga president Javier Tebas, the Spanish Sports Council (CSD), or the courts.

Font’s message is clear: depending on external influences will only put the club at risk of losing out on opportunities. He argues that Barcelona should not be in a position where its future is controlled by third parties.

“Barça has to do things better than anyone else so as not to have to depend on anyone, we do not want to depend on Tebas, or the CSD, or any judge. Because if we depend on third parties, we already know that we have the chance to lose.”

The opposition groups within the club have united around this cause, calling for Laporta’s immediate resignation.

They want to usher in a new era of management, with fresh approaches and more efficient decision-making to guide Barcelona into the future.
