Former Barcelona reserve team boss Rafael Márquez has on Monday moved to afford credit to Hansi Flick for the emergence of the Blaugrana talent Marc Casadó.

Youngster Casadó has of course spent the early months of the new campaign establishing himself as the latest breakout star in Barcelona’s first-team setup.

Afforded a prolonged chance to impress owing to an injury crisis in Hansi Flick’s squad, the midfielder has taken full advantage, courtesy of a string of standout performances.

So much so that, just last week, Casadó was afforded a first-ever senior international call-up.

And, as alluded to above, one individual of the opinion that considerable credit for as much must go to new Blaugrana headmaster Hansi Flick is the aforementioned Rafa Márquez.

Speaking during an interview with Cadena SER on Monday, Márquez was drawn on Casadó’s explosion onto the world stage.

This comes after the Mexican oversaw the development of the 21-year-old during a shared stint at Barca Atlètic.

And Márquez, full of praise, went on to explain:

”With Casadó the team was one and without him, it was another. He was a very important player on and off the field.

”He has a very winning and competitive mentality. That’s what has given him the opportunity. Flick saw that and decided to keep him from the start, and we have to give him credit for that.”
