College football Week 9 rundown: Results, recaps from every Top 25 game

College football’s biggest teams continue their 2022 seasons during Saturday's Week 9 action. Here's a rundown of the day.

No. 1 Georgia 42, Florida 20

Briefly: Daijun Edwards and Kenny McIntosh ran for two touchdowns each, and Georgia pulled away from Florida. The Bulldogs looked to be in trouble when the Gators scored the first 17 points of the third quarter and turned a 28-3 deficit into a one-score game. But the Dawgs answered with consecutive touchdown drives to seal their 10th consecutive victory. Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett threw for 316 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

One highlight to watch: Brock Bowers make a 73-yard touchdown catch off the tip.

No. 2 Ohio State 44, No. 13 Penn State 31

Briefly: J.T. Tuimoloau had a strip sack to set up Ohio State for a separation-score in the fourth quarter and then a pick-6 to cap a spectacular performance by the defensive end as the Buckeyes erased a fourth-quarter deficit to beat Penn State.

One highlight to watch: Henderson breaks free for the go-ahead score.

No. 3 Tennessee 44, No. 17 Kentucky 6

Briefly: Jalin Hyatt caught five passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns as Tennessee set up an unbeaten showdown with No. 1 Georgia next Saturday. Hyatt broke the school record for touchdown receptions in a season and the Volunteers earned their best start since winning the national championship in 1998. The Wildcats struggled on offense after an early touchdown. Will Levis had limited success while being intercepted three times.

No. 4 Michigan 29, Michigan State 7

Briefly: Blake Corum ran for 177 yards and scored twice, and Jake Moody made five field goals to help Michigan remain unbeaten. The Wolverines scored 26 consecutive points after falling behind briefly late in the first quarter. Tempers flared after the game between the in-state rivals after Michigan continued throwing in the final minutes with the game already decided.

No. 7 TCU 41, West Virginia 31

Briefly: Max Duggan threw three touchdown passes, Kendre Miller ran for 120 yards and a score and TCU used big plays on offense to beat West Virginia to remain unbeaten.

What to know: TCU takes lead on Emani Bailey touchdown run.

No. 8 Oregon 42 California 24

Briefly Bo Nix threw three touchdown passes and ran for three more scores to lead Oregon to a 42-24 victory over California for its seventh consecutive win. The Ducks broke open the game with three TDs in a span of less than seven minutes of game time spanning halftime and stayed unbeaten in Pac-12 play.

One highlight to watch: Nix drops it off to Noah Whittington, who does the rest to reach the end zone.

No. 22 Kansas State 48, No. 9 Oklahoma State 0

Briefly: Will Howard threw for 296 yards and four touchdowns, Deuce Vaughn ran for 158 yards and another score, and Kansas State dealt Oklahoma State its first shutout loss since 2009. The win keeps the Wildcats one game behind TCU in the Big 12 race.

One highlight to watch: Vaughn goes the distance for another K-State score.

Louisville 48, No. 10 Wake Forest 21

Briefly: Louisville forced six turnovers in the third quarter and seven in the game to lead to a shocking win against Wake Forest. Two of the turnovers were interceptions for touchdowns as the Cardinals overcame a 14-13 halftime deficit with 35 points in the third quarter and cruised to victory.

One highlight to watch: Kei’Trel Clark picks off Sam Hartman and goes the distance.

No. 11 Southern California 45, Arizona 37

Briefly: Caleb Williams threw for 411 yards and five touchdowns, and Southern California scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to outlast Arizona. The Wildcats nearly kept up with USC offensively, finishing with 543 total yards. Jayden de Laura threw for 380 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, they struggled with missed tackles and allowed the Trojans to convert 11 of 17 on third down.

One highlight to watch: Tahj Washington gets his second touchdown catch of the day.

No. 12 Mississippi 31, Texas A&M 28

Briefly: Quinshon Judkins rushed for 205 yards, Jaxson Dart passed for three touchdowns and Mississippi dealt Texas A&M its fourth consecutive loss. Ole Miss rushed for 391 yards, including 134 yards in the first quarter, and finished with 530 total yards.Aggies freshman quarterback Connor Weigman was 28 of 44 for 338 yards and four touchdowns in his first career start.

One highlight to watch: Mississippi gets on the board first with a Jaxson Dart-to-Dayton Wade touchdown pass.

No. 15 UCLA 38, Stanford 13

Briefly: UCLA kept pace with Southern California and Utah in second place of the Pac-12 standings with a comfortable home defeat of Stanford. Zach Charbonnet ran for 198 yards and three touchdowns as part of a rushing attack that piled up 324 yards. Doran Thompson-Robinson threw for 199 yards and a score, while the Bruins defense held the Cardinal without a touchdown until late in the fourth quarter.

One highlight to watch: Charbonnet scores his third touchdown of game.

Notre Dame 41, No. 16 Syracuse 24

Briefly: Brandon Joseph returned an interception 29 yards for a touchdown on the first play of the game, tailback Audric Estimé rushed for 123 yards and scored twice in the fourth quarter to thwart a Syracuse rally, and Notre Dame defeated the Orange. The Fighting Irish have won five of six since opening the season with two losses and has 26 consecutive regular-season wins against ACC opponents.

One highlight to watch: Brandon Joseph gets Notre Dame out front early with interception return for touchdown.

No. 18 Illinois 26, Nebraska 9

Briefly: Chase Brown rushed for 149 yards and scored on consecutive series in the second quarter, helping Illinois beat Nebraska for the third year in a row. They won a sixth consecutive game for the first time since 2011. The Cornuskers lost quarterback Casey Thompson to an injury in the second quarter and dropped its 20th in a row against a Top 25 opponent. Illinois quarterback Tommy DeVito was 20 of 22 for 179 yards and two touchdowns.

What to know: Devito hits Isaiah Williams for the first score of the game.

Central Florida 25, No. 19 Cincinnati 21

Briefly: RJ Harvey had a 17-yard touchdown run with 48 seconds remaining, sending Central Florida past Cincinnati. The loss was the first in American Athletic play for the Bearcats after a 19-game win streak. Harvey’s go-ahead TD capped a seven-play, 75-yard march directed by backup quarterback Mikey Keene. Cincinnati took a 21-18 lead with 3:04 remaining on Ryan Montgomery's 39-yard touchdown run.

One highlight to watch: Harvey wins the game for Central Florida.

No. 21 North Carolina 42, Pittsburgh 24

Briefly: Drake Maye threw for 388 yards and five touchdowns to lead North Carolina back from a 10-point deficit in the second half. Pittsburgh led 24-14 before the Tar Heels scored four touchdowns with three coming on passes from Maye. Antoine Green and Josh Downs each had more than 100 yards receiving and two scores as UNC improved to 7-1 and stayed unbeaten in the ACC.

Missouri 23, No. 25 South Carolina 10

Briefly: Brady Cook ran for a touchdown and directed three long, first-half scoring drives as Missouri built a 17-0 lead on the way to its fourth consecutive win against South Carolina. Receiver Dominic Lovett had career highs with 10 catches for 148 yards while the Tigers’ defense had 11 tackles behind the line of scrimmage and held the Gamecocks to 203 total yards.
