Everton 1-2 Manchester United LIVE! Premier League result, match stream, latest reaction as Ronaldo wins it
Everton vs Manchester United - LIVE!
Cristiano Ronaldo’s 700th career club goal clinched a 2-1 victory at Everton which moved Manchester United to within a point of the top four. The 37-year-old was only on the pitch due to Anthony Martial’s inability to run off an injury sustained in the warm-up, but it was no great surprise he seized the opportunity afforded him.
Antony’s neat finish had cancelled out Alex Iwobi’s early, sumptuous curling strike to turn the momentum in United’s favour, but it was a passage of mistakes which presented Ronaldo with his moment in history.
Casemiro gave away possession to Iwobi, only for the Everton midfielder to run the ball straight into the path of his opponent, whose immediate response was to send Ronaldo scampering clear down the left wing. There was only one thought in his mind as he bore down on goal and, while his low strike whistled past Jordan Pickford, the England goalkeeper would have been disappointed to have been beaten at his near post.

FT: Everton 1-2 Man United

United hold on!
Under real pressure in the final seconds but before then it was relatively comfortable for them.
They go up to fifth, Ronaldo the match winner as he nets his 700th club goal.
20:53 , Matt Verri
90+4 mins: Pickford up... almost gets on the end of a corner! It’s flicked away for another corner.
United put this one out for a throw-in. That should be enough.
20:52 , Matt Verri
90+3 mins: Calvert-Lewin causing problems at the back post, as De Gea makes a brilliant save to palm the ball away.
Antony off, Varane on. This is becoming a bit desperate in the final seconds from United.
20:50 , Matt Verri
90 mins: Here is a cross, Onana with the leap at the back post. Really good chance, heads it wide.
Four minutes added on at Goodison.
20:49 , Matt Verri
89 mins: Everton’s chance looks to have gone, United seeing this out relatively comfortably.
Not sure the hosts have put a cross in since Calvert-Lewin came on. They’ve also got Rondon on the pitch now - get it in!
20:44 , Matt Verri
85 mins: McTominay has been brought on to replace Eriksen and he’s made two fouls in about 45 seconds.
Gray gets caught by the second one, and the United midfielder earns an immediate yellow card. Suspension coming up for him too.
DISALLOWED!
20:41 , Matt Verri
Well then - game on again!
Rashford handled the ball as it bounced up, completely accidental but those are the rules.
Everton get a huge lift.
GOAL! Everton 1-3 Manchester United | Marcus Rashford 80'
20:40 , Matt Verri
That will be that!
Everton leave themselves exposed at the back and they’ve been made to pay.
Rashford beats Iwobi in the air, gets the better of Tarkowski and then bundles his way through Pickford, leaving himself a tap-in.
20:37 , Matt Verri
78 mins: Garner catches Fernandes late, making an immediate impression against his former club!
Gray beats Dalot and drills a low cross into the box, Casemiro there once again though to intercept.
20:35 , Matt Verri
75 mins: Garner and Calvert-Lewin on, Coleman and Gueye off.
Huge roar from the Goodison fans - Calvert-Lewin makes his first appearance of the season. Now’s the time to be a hero!
20:33 , Matt Verri
73 mins: United getting space in attack, one goal and they’ll finish this off as a contest.
It’s played back to Eriksen, space on the edge of the box but it’s hammered miles over the bar. Another wasted chance.
20:29 , Matt Verri
70 mins: Onana gets his side up the pitch and wins a corner, up come the Everton defenders.
It’s Onana who jumps well and beats Shaw, can’t get up enough though and the header loops over the bar.
20:26 , Matt Verri
67 mins: Great interception from Coleman, to stop Ronaldo having a tap-in at the back post. Rashford almost picked him out.
Everton make a change, McNeil on to replace Gordon.
20:23 , Matt Verri
64 mins: Gordon into the book for a sliding challenge on Fernandes, also picks up a yellow card which means he will be suspended for the next match.
Great delivery from Eriksen, Martinez gets across his man at the near post but it just evades him.
20:21 , Matt Verri
62 mins: Hosts seeing far more of the ball now, but they’re also leaving more space for United on the counter.
Gordon drifts away from a couple of challenges and combines nicely with Gray. Crossed in, Iwobi at the back post volleys it back into the six-yard box but nobody can provide the finish touch.
20:17 , Matt Verri
58 mins: Everton having their best spell of the match here, getting crosses into the box and United not looking particularly comfortable.
First time in the game that Gray and Gordon have been able to consistently get on the ball. At the other end Casemiro clips a cross in and Ronaldo heads over the bar.
20:15 , Matt Verri
56 mins: Few niggly fouls from United players, stopping Everton from getting any sort of flow in midfield.
Gray will swing this free-kick in from out wide, Onana can’t catch up with it at the back post and it runs behind.
20:12 , Matt Verri
53 mins: Another United corner, once again it’s taken short and worked inside.
Casemiro 25 yards out, not closed down particularly quickly so tries his luck. Miles wide. Think it might be best if he parks the shooting to one side tonight.
20:10 , Matt Verri
51 mins: That’s a dreadful challenge from Onana, lunges in really late on Antony.
Came after he let the ball run under his foot, it was a frustrated response. Can be grateful it’s just a yellow.
20:09 , Matt Verri
50 mins: That’s a decent chance for United, Ronaldo can’t make the most of it.
He drives towards the edge of the box, Antony making the run inside and Fernandes on the outside.
Tries to poke it through to Antony, too much on it though and Pickford can claim.
20:07 , Matt Verri
48 mins: Eriksen gets in behind on the left, wins a corner as Gordon closes him down.
Taken short, worked out to Antony on the opposite wing. Curled in towards the far post, just above seen out of play by Coleman. Not far away from creeping in.
Up and running again
20:04 , Matt Verri
Back underway for the second-half at Goodison Park!
United on the up
20:02 , Matt Verri
United moving up to fifth in the table if it stays like this, nine points behind Arsenal. They have a game in hand though.
Long way to go at Goodison still - Everton will surely show a bit more ambition after the break.
Back in the goals!

HT: Everton 1-2 Man United
19:48 , Matt Verri
A couple of minutes of added-time pass without incident and that’s half-time at Goodison.
Everton took an early lead through Iwobi, but United in front thanks to Antony and Ronaldo.
Lampard’s side will have to show more ambition after the break.
GOAL! Everton 1-2 Man United | Cristiano Ronaldo 44’
19:45 , Matt Verri
HE’S DONE IT!
Casemiro gives it away but then swiftly robs Iwobi to win the ball back. Slides the ball through to Ronaldo and he’s in.
Too quick for Coady, into the box and hammers a left-footed strike past Pickford. That’s 700 in club football.
19:43 , Matt Verri
42 mins: Massive chance for Casemiro!
It’s a wonderful cross from Rashford, Casemiro has made the run into the box and he has a free header ten yards out, but he’s sent the header wide.
Had to score, Ten Hag can’t believe it.
19:42 , Matt Verri
41 mins: Ronaldo’s personal quest to reach 700 club goals continues, as he cuts inside onto his left foot.
A fair distance out, goes for goal anyway. Pickford has time to stroll over before toppling on it, barely reached him.
19:40 , Matt Verri
39 mins: Now it’s United’s turn to be incredibly sloppy on the ball, Dalot playing an awful pass along the backline.
Everton play it out to Coleman, time to put the cross in. He sends it halfway up the stand behind the goal.
19:38 , Matt Verri
37 mins: Well that is an absolute mess!
Mykolenko looks to dribble out on the edge of his own box, gets tackled by Casemiro. Rashford looks to play Fernandes in, Ronaldo gets in the way but he’s offside.
We play on, there’s two shots blocked, then another from Fernandes before he blasts it into the back of the net. And then the flag goes up.
19:35 , Matt Verri
34 mins: Antony and Rashford have swapped wings for now, meaning Coleman is now up against Antony.
Winger goes on the outside onto his favoured left foot, cross is charged down. Everton quickly back in their shape - don’t think Gray, Gordon and Maupay have had a serious touch between them.
19:33 , Matt Verri
32 mins: Deep free-kick swung into the box by Everton, Ronaldo is back to head it away for his side. Not quite what he’s been brought on for but it’s a welcome contribution.
Fernandes looks to lead the United charge up the pitch, Everton get enough shirts back to crowd him out though.
19:31 , Matt Verri
30 mins: Goodison faithful getting increasingly frustrated as their side keep giving the ball away.
Coleman taking a heavy touch and running straight out of play doesn’t help. Hosts have got to be more composed on the ball, it’s so frantic from them.
19:29 , Matt Verri
28 mins: Martial has indicated to the United bench he needs to come off. Picked up a bit of an injury in the warm-up and that looks to be bothering him. Ronaldo getting ready to come on.
United look set to break again as Everton lose it, but Coleman flies in on Rashford. Great challenge.
And here is Ronaldo - on to replace Martial.
19:26 , Matt Verri
25 mins: Rashford and Shaw look to combine on the left, one-two is badly overhit though and Everton can slow things down with a goal-kick.
That was a rare United attack down the left wing, everything else has come on the right with Antony, Fernandes and Dalot.
19:23 , Matt Verri
22 mins: Nearly absolutely brilliant from Martial, Everton being run ragged all of a sudden.
Great ball in behind, cut back into the box and both Antony and Martial are there. Frenchman jinks past a couple of challenges, Pickford closes him down.
Seconds later Fernandes gets to the byline again, finds Martial but it’s cut out. Offside flag then goes up.
19:21 , Matt Verri
20 mins: Another Everton mistake and it’s very nearly another United goal.
Gueye with a terrible pass, Eriksen can bring it forward to the edge of the box. Heading for the bottom corner before Pickford parries it behind.
Taken short, Antony tries his luck from distance and it’s blocked.
19:18 , Matt Verri
17 mins: Will that lead to Everton coming out a bit more?
Early signs would be absolutely not, still United seeing all of the ball. That goal was pretty much the first time Everton have lost it and left themselves exposed.
GOAL! Everton 1-1 Man United | Antony 15'
19:15 , Matt Verri
Long night? Maybe not!
It’s absolutely ruthless from United, Everton lose the ball and suddenly there is space on the counter!
Rapid break, Martial plays it through to Antony and he curls it past Pickford into the far corner. Three in a row for him.
19:14 , Matt Verri
13 mins: Everton sitting so deep, this is going to be a long night for United you feel. No space for the likes of Rashford and Martial to run into, not really a game that suits them.
Toffees meanwhile looking to pick their moments on the counter. Onana should set Maupay away, heavy pass though.
19:10 , Matt Verri
10 mins: Too easy for Dalot to stroll inside and skip into the box, has space for the shot too. Tarkowski swiftly across to block.
Fernandes then goes down claiming he’s been kicked, Mykolenko tells him to get up. A few more words in there too.
19:08 , Matt Verri
8 mins: It was loud before, it’s now deafening at Goodison. Exactly what United didn’t need at the start of this match.
Coady and Tarkowski have been really solid early on, giving Martial nothing through the middle.
GOAL! Everton 1-0 Man United | Alex Iwobi 6'
19:06 , Matt Verri
EVERTON TAKE THE LEAD!
Perfect start for Frank Lampard’s side. Casemiro caught on the ball and Everton can drive at the defence.
Comes to Iwobi 25 yards out and it’s an absolutely wonderful curling finish beyond De Gea!
19:05 , Matt Verri
4 mins: Everton getting everyone behind the ball out of possession, no space at all for the United’s attacking players.
Casemiro plays the ball around the corner, Onana gets his leg above his head to intercept. Header might have been easier... full marks for style though.
19:03 , Matt Verri
2 mins: Fast start from Everton, right up for it from the opening whistle.
Bit too keen there though, Casemiro caught by a late sliding challenge from Onana. Easy decision for the referee.
KICK-OFF!

How it stands
18:25 , Matt Verri
Man United 12 points off table-toppers Arsenal going into tonight’s clash.
Two games in hand though, first of which comes tonight at Goodison Park. Victory would lift United into fifth.
For Everton, they’ll be looking to keep their unbeaten run going. They would move above United and go seventh with a win. Added incentive for the Toffees - a point will be enough to go above Liverpool!
Going to be a special atmosphere under the lights!

For Man United, Varane on the bench as Lindelof starts again. Casemiro and Martial replace McTominay and Sancho in the lineup, with Ronaldo among the substitutes once again.

Ronaldo disrespected by Ten Hag?
17:41 , Matt Verri
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has accused Erik ten Hag of ‘disrespecting” Cristiano Ronaldo by continuing to start him only in the Europa League.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has become something of a peripheral figure at Old Trafford in recent weeks despite his illustrious reputation, having failed to start a single Premier League match since the 4-0 humiliation at Brentford in August.
Instead Ronaldo has been restricted to brief substitute’s cameos domestically, remaining on the bench for the entirety of Sunday’s 6-3 derby drubbing by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium as Ten Hag admitted he did not throw him into such a dismal performance partly out of respect for his reputation.
The 37-year-old’s only starts are now coming in the Europa League, with Ronaldo selected for the 1-0 home defeat by Real Sociedad and scoring in last month’s 2-0 victory over Sheriff Tiraspol in Moldova.

Prediction
17:21 , Matt Verri
United made impressive strides prior to the City game and have already proven they can edge out tight games.
Everton games have not been full of goals this season - another cagey affair looks to be on the cards.
Man United to win 1-0.
Man United team news
17:07 , Matt Verri
United, meanwhile, could welcome back Raphael Varane following his recent ankle problem, while Anthony Martial is pushing to start alongside Marcus Rashford in attacking areas.
Predicted Manchester United XI: De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Malacia; McTominay, Eriksen; Antony, Fernandes, Rashford; Martial
Everton team news
16:58 , Matt Verri
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is back in contention for United’s visit having returned to training, though it’s difficult to see the England international being rushed back into action given the extent of his injury problems.
Otherwise, there is little in the way of fresh injury concern for the home side.
