Evander Kane Once Challenged Jake Paul To Fight

EDMONTON -- Jake Paul knows how to box.

On Friday night, Edmonton Oilers and boxing fans watched Paul take on the legendary Mike Tyson. Unfortunately for Tyson, he is 58 and was riding a two-match losing streak before climbing into the ring with Paul.

Paul won via decision against Tyson. With the victory, he improved his record to 11-1-0. Tyson's record dropped to 50-7-0.

Funnily enough, if you rewind a few years, Oilers winger Evander Kane had challenged Paul to a match.

"Yo Jake Paul, I'd wreck ya," the November 29, 2020 X post penned by Kane began. "Easy to beat up guys with no experience and much smaller. August 31st, 2021 Vegas."

"We can see if you really about that action. #YOURMOVE"

When writing those posts, Kane was a member of the San Jose Sharks. Now four years older and recovering from sports hernia surgery, Kane couldn't get into the ring with Paul today.

That wouldn't stop him from trying to get in the ring with someone in the next two years. Kane is a super competitive player who would fully devote himself to training.

The only problem would be that he would need to train exclusively in boxing for several months at the absolute minimum. Many of these fighters train for years to compete. Kane might have to train for a year. So, Kane challenging him to a fight is not the worst thing in the world, but it's certainly not the most intelligent thing Kane has done.

For now, Kane can recover from his sports hernia, and Paul can return to punching 58-year-olds.
